20 efficiency apartments
A one-story, newly renovated Ellington-Mayflower warehouse at 1902 Main Street in Alexandria, converted into 10,440 square feet of supportive housing. The Olive House is named after Sister Olive Bordelon.

- Outreach and referral services from non-profit agencies throughout the community

- Day porch overlooking the courtyard with rocking chairs
- State-of-the-art security system with card entry and cameras
- Computers available for tenant use
- Conference area for group meetings
- Easy access to public transportation
Who the Olive House serves
- Previously homeless individuals leaving shelters or transitional and rehabilitation facilities
- Previously homeless individuals recovering from substance abuse who have been clean for more than three months, and those who are mentally ill or dually diagnosed
- Residents referred from shelters, transitional housing, Volunteers of America, and the Veterans Administration Hospital
- Individuals who have completed extensive rehabilitation and been declared ready for independent living
A permanent place to live
Affordable furnished private rooms with bathrooms, refrigerators, and microwaves. Communal areas let residents do laundry, visit with family, and enjoy group activities. Residents may stay as long as it takes to turn their lives around.
A way to rejoin the community
Homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse isolate people in despair. The Olive House gives residents an opportunity to live — perhaps for the first time — in a supportive, caring community.
